Our customers have a lot of questions when it comes to replacing their rear window – sometimes referred to as rear windshield.  Take a few minutes to read through the most common questions we get from our customers.

What do you call the glass at the back of a car?

Sometimes people say they need a “windshield replacement” and when we hear this, most people are referring to the glass at the front of their car, not the back. So, with an easy question, we clear things up just to be sure we respond with the correct piece of glass. We refer to the “rear windshield” or “rear window” as the “back glass”. Again, we get really specific with our customers about which piece of glass they need in order to avoid any confusion.

How much does it cost to replace the back windshield – or the back glass?

The short answer is – it depends.  There is wide range of prices – from as little as $200 to well over $1000.  It simply depends on the year, make and model of the vehicle. We replace windshields and every other piece of auto glass on a wide variety of cars, trucks and SUV’s so as you can imagine, there are a lot of different pieces of glass involved in the replacement work we do.  It’s always easy to get a quote from us – simply call us at 610-935-5588 or visit our auto glass replacement online quote page.

How do I identify my windshield?

This comes up more and more frequently. As vehicles become more sophisticated, manufacturers are making cars that have many different options related to the glass. In some cases, when there are multiple options, the only way to determine what a vehicle needs is by the “VIN”. The VIN (abbreviation for vehicle identification number is the vehicle’s serial number. With this number, the manufacturer is able to tell us exactly what piece of glass is needed for your car. If you’re curious about VIN numbers, here’s how they work, take a look at this image. Each of the 17 digits in the VIN have a purpose.
