Whether you have broken windshield or just a stone chip, we provide the perfect solution and professional service. Stone chips develop into big cracks with time and then the whole windshield needs to be replaced.
Here’s what we do if your windshield develops a stone chip
STEP 1
Our trained technician comes to your home or office (or any other location convenient for you) and inspects the size and number of the stone chips on your windshield. If the stone chip has penetrated the first layer of laminate and created an air pocket, the damage is considered serious and requires immediate repair.
STEP 2
The next step is to remove the air from the pocket or hole and fill it with resin. The air pocket is located between two layers of glass. The debris is first cleared with a probe. After that, a drilling machine is used at a particular angle to reach the air pocket. It is important not to drill through all the layers and create a hole in the windshield. The drilling is done for a very brief period of time just to get access to the air pocket.
STEP 3
A tool called the bridge is used next. It holds the resin injector which helps in creating the vacuum for the resin to replace the air. The difference between a home repair and professional repairing is the tools used. The tools that our technicians make use of, ensure maximum or absolute elimination of air to increase the longevity of the repair done. The resin used also depends on the climate of your location. Resin injection takes place 2 to 4 times at a gap of 2 minutes. The whole process takes place in approximately 10 minutes.
STEP 4
After we create a vacuum and inject resin in the air pocket, a thicker resin is poured on top of the pit to close the chip. When it hardens, it looks just like glass. To avoid divots, a clear plastic tab is placed over the hole filled with resin. Then the UV lamp is placed on the tab for 30 seconds to harden the resin. The tab is removed and the excess resin is scraped off with a razor blade.
STEP 5
Finally, pit polish is applied on the resin to make it look like glass. This is invisible and the excess polish is wiped off.
